Mooloolaba Restaurant Review

One Up Mooloolaba – Corner of Venning St & Mooloolaba Esplanade

One of the newest restaurant and bar in Mooloolaba, formerly EV, opened its doors in June. It is a hidden gem, as it is not noticeable when walking along the Mooloolaba Esplanade restaurant strip. It is situated above Cracked Pepper with the entrance via the stairs in the Mantra shopping foyer behind the M @ Mooloolaba restaurant. When you find your way in, you will be looked after by the new owners Trish and Brendan. The seating around the edge takes advantage of the view out towards the sea.  It is great way to spend the day and early evening watching the sun go down. The menu caters for all occasions including light lunches, gorgeous platters to share as well as a nightly dinner menu. We started the evening off with homemade dips to share which was extremely tasty and healthy.  For mains we went on to have panned calamari served with smoked chorizo, green chilli, Danish feta, pine nuts, orange soaked currants and herb salad which was a taste sensation. My dinning partner decided to order the organic spatchcock, kipfler potatoes, wilted spinach, mount zero olives, braised artichoke and Spanish vinaigrette. Everything on the menu reads like a fine dining restaurant at pub prices. Where else can you find spatchcock for a reasonable price? To compliment the meals was a wine list with enough variety to offer something for everyone at reasonable prices and a good selection of beers on tab, both local and imported. On Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon you can sit and listen to fantastic live music. If you plan on heading out for lunch or dinner while in Mooloolaba I highly recommend One Up.

September School Holidays at the Seaview Resort Mooloolaba

With September school holidays fast approaching now is a good time to get you accommodation booked at the Seaview Resort Mooloolaba apartments – we are filling up fast.

Mooloolaba is a fantastic place to bring the kids to keep them entertained during the school holidays, there is so much to do. If you have never been to the area then here are my top 5 things to do with the kids this September school holidays (plus a few more ideas at the bottom as there is so much to do in this area!).

1. Ginger Factory– This is one of my favourite places to visit with or without the children and it is free to get. They have recently renovated the café which is well worth a visit even if you’re just passing. If you want to have a cheap day then you can just brouse around the specialty shops they have which sell everything ginger and honey, stuffed toys, collectable toy cars, soaps and locally made produce. The Ginger Factory has beautiful gardens to wonder around in with amazing ginger plants everywhere. They also have a recently opened chocolate factory where you can watch them make delicious chocolate goodies. The Ginger Factory offer tours which do cost but you can buy a couple to make it cheaper. You have the option of a ginger tour of the factory and get to taste some surprising ginger recipes. The Bee Tour showing you the remarkable life of a bee as well as honey tasting. The train ride which takes you through the gardens (the kids love the train) and also the boat ride which scared my 2 year old nephew!

2. The Big Pineapple Sunday Fiesta Market – This is aimed at young and old with train rides, animal farm, rainforest tours, roaming performers, bouncy castles, arts and crafts for the kids and fine food, great coffee and fashion for the parents. This is a great day out.

3. Mooloolaba Wharf – During the school holidays the wharf have a free petting farm with lambs, goats and chickens which the little ones love. The wharf also has a 3 person reverse bungee reaching 6G’s, 220 km and launches 60 metres into the air!! For the little ones they also have a kiddie’s trampoline.

4. Learn to Surf – Make the most of the amazing weather that Mooloolaba has during the September school holidays and head to the beach and learn to surf. This is great for all ages, lesson start from $60 for adults and $50 for children for a 2 hour lesson.

5. Underwater World – The main tunnel has been under maintenance for the last few months and they are having a grand opening on Saturday 22nd September. This is a great day out for the whole family, there are so many weird and wonderful creatures to look at. Underwater World also offer loads of different animal experiences such as seal trainer for a day, swim with the sharks and seal swims to name a few.

There are so many activities to do with the kids in Mooloolaba here are a few more ideas

Big Kart Track
Australia Zoo
Aussie World
Nut and chocolate factory – accross the road from The ginger factory.
Maleny Cheese factory tour
Stand up paddle boarding
Strawberry picking

Review – Seaview Resort, Mooloolaba Accommodation

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend. It was our second visit to the Seaview and we will be back again. The accomodation is superb.

Big Pineapple – Only a short drive from the Seaview Resort Mooloolaba

After being shut for many years the Big Pineapple is slowly re-opening different areas. The building itself is still shabby but this adds to its charm. The newest event they are hosting is the Sunday Fiesta Markets. This is different from their famous fruit and veg market on a Saturday as this is aimed at families. There are still many of the same stalls upstairs offering fine food, fashion and locally made baskets. In addition to this, there are roaming performers wowing the crowds with magic and card tricks, children’s work shops where they can learn art and crafts, bouncy castles and the strangest blow up paint balling arena that I have ever seen. If you fancy trying paint balling but don’t want to go to the expense of a whole day then head to the big Pineapple. They offer short 15 minute games for approx $15 including bullets. This market is on from 8.30 to 3pm and diffidently worth a look even if its just to drop in to their Parfait Cafe for some gorgeous refreshments.

Seaview Resort Mooloolaba Review – “Incredible views, great location”

“Incredible views, great location”
5 of 5 starsReviewed 14 August 2012

This is one of the best resorts that I have stayed in. I initially booked a one bed apartment and when friens came to stay it only cost $45 dollars a night for the extra room. Wi fi is payable and they also have a tennis court. Everything is there, a kitchen for cooking, washing machine and dryer, but the biggest feature is the view. I was on the elevent floor and we had surround views which were stunning. There is also secure parking under the building Right accross from the beach and a short walk to the centre of town. A block away from Coles for shopping and you have to try the Coffee Club for breakfast and M for the best fish. When you check in you get a book of discount vouchers, use them as they can save you a lot. I would go back anytime.

Seaview Resort Mooloolaba Review – “Comfort, View and Space”

5 of 5 starsReviewed 22 July 2012

Although we hail from NSW, our annual family reunion is always held in Mooloolaba in July – there are quite a few of us – and most importantly we stay at Seaview. Why? The wonderful spaciousness of the living areas is prime. All other factors certainly have their boxes ticked. As a matter of fact, we have never had one complaint in the many years of visiting, particularly under the new owners who keep the place in spotless condition. I also commend them on their revamped website which graphically illustrates the wonderful features of the Resort. I certainly recommend Seaview to any family who enjoys comfort, view and space.- Geoff

Room Tip: The 3 bedroom Units are on the northern and southern ends of the Resort. The 2 bedders are prominent…
