8 Free Activities in Mooloolaba and the Sunshine Coast this June School Holiday
May 17, 2013
School holidays are great but they can get very expensive, especially when you have more then one child to entertain. Here are a few ideas of what you can see and do in Mooloolaba and the Sunshine Coast that won`t cost you a cent.
- Head to Loo with a view on a Wednesday evening and join the Drum Circle and fire twirlers down on the beach. All ages welcome, even the little kiddies can join in with their own drum.
- Explore the Maroochy wetlands near Bli Bli. There is a boardwalk through the wet lands where you can see wet and dry eucalypt forests, rainforest, melaleuca forest, casuarina woodland, salt marsh and mangroves. You can watch over 200 species of birds, as well as crabs, butterflies and other wildlife species that make the wetlands their home.
- Just along from Mooloolaba’s beautiful sandy patrol beach is some amazing rock pools. Big and small kids love the rock pools and its amazing what they can find and how long this will keep them amused.
- During the school holidays there is a petting zoo at Mooloolaba Wharf. Introduce the children to the friendly goats, fluffy chickens and cute lambs.
- For the energetic one, take a walk to the Mooloolaba’s rock wall. All you have to do is cross the road in front of the Seaview Resort and join the walking track. You can follow the track along the beach and through the boardwalk and past some play parks or walk on the beach picking up seashells. The round trip is about 5kms. If you get hungry along the way you can stop off at the wharf and get some fresh fish and chips.
- Have a BBQ on the beach front. Most people head to the BBQ’s near the surf club but my favorite BBQ area is just past the boardwalk. They are less busy and view is amazing.
- Every Saturday from 6.30am there is an all weather market at the The Big Pineapple. There are so many interesting stalls to wonder around and many of the food stalls offer free samples. There is also plenty of space out on the grass for the kids to run around. My favorite thing to do is buy some yummy food from the stalls and sit on the grass and have a picnic.
- If you have booked a holiday at the Seaview Resort at Mooloolaba, the kids can borrow tennis rackets for a hit about on the tennis court or borrow a board game reception while you can unwind in the sauna or relax by the heated swimming pool…great facilities at this Mooloolaba Resort.

Mooloolaba Restaurant Review
|
Hot Pipis has been open since 1993 and is loved by loyal locals and tourists alike. Open for 18hrs a day you are always going to be given a warm welcome whether is just for a coffee in the morning or a sumptuous 3 course meal in the evening. The breakfast menu has many of your classics plus a few `quirky` options including chef`s Sicilian sunrise, house made baked beanz, house baked brioche and chef`s traditional recipe fruit toast. The lunch menu covers everything from tapas, burgers, pasta, salad and seafood which include their famous seafood curry. An evening meal at Hot Pipis can be a quick bit to eat or a delectable 3 course meal. Our personal favourites are the Mooloolaba prawns with sesame and soy glaze, wakame salad, pickled ginger, cherry tomatoes and chilli oil to start, followed by Hot Pipis famous seafood curry for main and any of the tantalising deserts. To top of their incredible food and service Hot Pipis also generously donate their time and often their kitchen to help raise money for their chosen charities. This includes Christmas day where you can enjoy coffee and cake for a donation. What an amazing team. |

Great Restaurant only a short stroll from the Seaview Resort Mooloolaba
November 12, 2012
This restaurant is extremely popular with both locals and holiday makes, so it’s certainly worth booking a table in advance. Semo’s Moroccan Restaurant has also been voted 4.5 out of 5 on Trip Advisor by fellow dinners.
As we had not organised a babysitter for the evening we had our 6 month old baby on tow. We booked in advance to made sure we had a table with plenty of room for the pram for our sleeping beauty. As per usual the restaurant was full and there where plenty of staff buzzing around to take your order and help give you menu suggestions. We where told to have anything other than a curry as you can have one of them anywhere! Actually turned out to be great advise.
We decided to have the 3 courses for $35 pp as it seemed like a great deal and would make us try something a bit different. To start we shared the king prawns infused with olive oil, garlic and Moroccan herbs and spices served with warm Turkish bread. WOW, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! For mains we could not go past one of their signature tagines, so we had Barramundi fillets cooked through a saffron & garlic sauce with vegetables and olives, finished with a Moroccan eggplant & capsicum salsa and I had the marinated premium quality lamb cutlets char-grilled to perfection served with a fruity apricot sauce on a bed of couscous or saffron rice. Both dishes where faultless. Normally I am not a desert person, however the poached pears in cinnamon, cloves, cardomon and saffron served warm with cinnamon roasted walnuts and almonds and ice cream was s complete hit with both of us.
Over all we had a lovely relaxed evening. It was a nice easy stroll down with the baby from the Seaview Resort. The service was great and the food was amazing.
