2011 year is already looking like it is going to be a busy one in Mooloolaba. Here are just a few things that are happening in the next few weeks and months.
26th January – Havaianas Australia Day Challenge
The Havaianas Thong Challenge will once again be held at 5 of Australia’s most iconic beaches on Australia Day 2011. Year on year the event has got bigger and better as each state in Australia unleashes their competitive streak striving to claim the new WORLD RECORD TITLE and nationwide praise and glory! This Australia Day the challenge is on again and last year’s champions in WA are ready to defend their title and fight for consecutive victory. This is an amazing festival to come and watch, even if you are not participating in it. The streets come alive with excitement and nerves of hundreds of people entering into the different events. The events include Mooloolaba Triathlon and Mooloolaba Teams Triathlon, Ascics Twilight 5km run, Australian Power & Gas Mooloolaba Ocean Swim and The Courier-Mail Mooloolaba Superkidz Triathlon. 21st – 26th April – Easter Long Weekend

4th December – CHRISTMAS BOAT PARADE
Come and view the marvelous boat parade which starts at 6.30 from the Coast Guard Building and winds its way through Mooloolaba Canals. This is its 8th year running and had a turn out of 35 boats last year.

December – CHRISTMAS LIGHTS CANAL CRUISE
Seafood Cruises Mooloolaba offer a Canal cruise to view the Christmas Lights every Monday and/Tuesday Evening. The houses on the Mooloolaba canal are some of the most prestigious in the country and have some amazing displays.

9th – 12th December – Australian PGA Championships, Coolum Beach – Australian PGA Championships is one of the big three golf events on the PGA Tour of Australasia and attracts all of the well known Australian players plus marquee US players such as John Daly. The fantastic Hyatt Coolum layout offers patrons the perfect opportunity to get up close to their favorite player. This event is often referred to by players as their favorite event due to its relaxed feel. A must attend event for people in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
31st December – NEW YEARS EVE@MOOLOOLABA
This year, once again with thanks to the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and local businesses, come and join the family friendly celebrations on the Esplanade at Mooloolaba and welcome in 2011! There will be family friendly entertainment from 2pm with children’s entertainment, beachside carnival, an early fireworks display, followed by more adult suited entertainment, culminating in a fireworks display at midnight.
