Australia Day in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast is an event that should not be missed. Mooloolaba is host to one of the most iconic summer events – Havaianas Australia Day Thong Challenge.

Five of the best beaches in Australia go head to head each year to compete for the title of longest human thong chain. This year Mooloolaba Queensland has to try and beat NSW.

Sunshine Coast Farmers Markets

We are spoilt for choice when it comes to Sunshine Coast Farmers Markets. Whether you are looking for unique local gift or farmers markets we have them all. Here are just a few you can visit while you enjoy a relaxing holiday at the Seaview Resort in Mooloolaba.

Saturday Markets on the Sunshine Coast

Big Pineapple Market – 6.30am – 12.30. Finally relocated back to the Big Pineapple site with wonderful local fresh fruit and veg. Nambour Connection Rd, Woombye.

Eumundi Market – 6.30am – 2pm. By far the biggest market on the coast with over 300 stalls offering local arts and crafts, music, street performers and special events. Eumundi township is located 20 kms west of Noosa.

North Shore Market – 1-5pm every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. The market has arts and crafts, second hand bargains, food and drink as well as live music at the Back Garden Stage. 128 Mudjimba Beach Road, Mudjimba (entrance via David Low Way). Phone 0413 771 404.

Sunday markets on the Sunshine Coast

Maleny Art, Craft & Collectible Market –  8am-2pm. This is a lovely day out starting with a beautiful scenic drive from Seaview Resort to Maleny. The market has variety of food and great coffee as well local arts, crafts and collectables. The market is indoors so great for all weather.

Fisherman’s Road Sunday Markets – Also known as the Big Sunday  Markets – 6am – 12pm. This market is operated by the Mooloolaba Lions Club volunteers. All money raised is channeled back into the Lions Club or local community organisations. Stalls include fruit,veg and seafood, clothes, pet treats, baby goods, plants and more. There is face painting and jumping castle for the kids. Fisherman`s Road Maroochydore.

Bulcock Street Markets, Caloundra – 8am – 1.00pm. Enjoy breakfast under the trees  in Bulcock St before browsing the unique crafts, fresh produce, great shops, fantastic food, art gallery, entertainment and family fun. Free parking is available. Bulcock Street, Caloundra.

Ginger Flower and Food Festival

The Ginger Factory is only a 20 minute drive from the Seaview Resort and the weekend of the 27th January they will be celebrating everything Ginger.

With free entry this is a great day out. The Ginger Factory will be bursting into bloom with new seasons ginger flowers and Helicon’s. Celebrity chefs will be working their magic as well as gardening greats will be hosting walk around the sub-tropical gardens.

This tree day festival is a true celebration of Queensland’s sub-tropical lifestyle and will be filled with loads of entertainment, glorious food and of course flowers.
